Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Clariva ("Clariva," "we," "us") helps students — primarily high-school students — discover competitions, olympiads, and other academic and extracurricular opportunities. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at clariva.path@gmail.com.

1. What Clariva is

Clariva lets you create an account, build a profile, and browse a database of student opportunities gathered from official organizers and other public sources. Some opportunity pages can be viewed by anyone without an account; features like tracking opportunities, personalized eligibility information, your dashboard, and your profile require you to sign in.

2. Information you provide to us

When you create a Clariva account, we collect:

  • Account information — your email address and authentication credentials. Clariva currently supports email-and-password authentication. Password authentication is handled through Supabase Auth; Clariva does not have access to your plaintext password. Clariva does not currently offer sign-in through Google or other third-party accounts.
  • Profile / onboarding information — your grade level, age, self-described academic performance, current country, intended study country, intended majors, universities you're considering, and a username. You can also upload a profile photo.
  • Submissions — if you send us feedback, report a problem with an opportunity listing, or suggest an opportunity we should add, we collect what you write (and, for feedback, which page you were on and whether it's a bug, an idea, or something that feels wrong). Feedback can be sent without being signed in; opportunity reports and suggestions require an account and are linked to it.

You can review and update most profile information from your Profile page at any time. Your username can be changed once every 30 days.

3. Information generated through your use of Clariva

While you're signed in, Clariva also stores:

  • Tracked opportunities — the opportunities you choose to track, and their status (for example, active or submitted).
  • Recently viewed opportunities — which opportunity pages you've opened, so we can show you a "recently viewed" list.

We primarily use this information to provide features such as your Dashboard, My Opportunities, and recently viewed list, and where necessary to operate, maintain, and protect the service.

4. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • create and operate your account, and guide you through onboarding
  • show you opportunities and, where your profile has enough information (like your current country), an informational eligibility indicator for each one
  • let you track opportunities and see your recently viewed list
  • respond to feedback, opportunity reports, and suggestions, and improve the accuracy of our opportunity database
  • maintain the security and reliability of Clariva and prevent misuse

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your information.

5. Third-party service providers

Clariva is built on Supabase (which provides our database, authentication, and file storage) and hosted on Vercel. These providers process information on our behalf as necessary to run Clariva — for example, storing your account and profile data and keeping you signed in. We haven't made any additional international-transfer or contractual representations beyond what these providers themselves offer.

We do not currently use any analytics, advertising, or tracking tools (for example, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar services) on Clariva.

6. Cookies and similar technology

Clariva uses cookies set by Supabase for necessary authentication and session purposes — to keep you signed in and recognize your session as you move between pages. These cookies are required for the product to work.

Based on Clariva's current implementation, we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel, and we do not currently set any first-party analytics or marketing cookies.

7. Third-party opportunity links and organizer information

Most opportunities listed on Clariva are created and run by outside organizations — schools, competition bodies, universities, and similar. When you click through to an official website, you leave Clariva, and that organization's own privacy practices apply. We're not responsible for what those third-party sites do with your information, and we encourage you to review their policies before giving them any personal information directly.

8. Student and minor privacy

Clariva is designed for high-school students, some of whom are minors, and is not intended for children under the age of 13. Users under 13 should not create a Clariva account.

Age is self-reported during onboarding. Clariva does not currently verify age, and we do not currently have a system for obtaining or verifying parental consent — requiring a minimum age of 13 to sign up is a policy restriction, not a technical age-verification guarantee.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account or given us information, please contact us at clariva.path@gmail.com and we'll work with you on next steps, including deleting the account.

We ask that users provide accurate information, but we keep the account and profile fields limited to what the product genuinely needs — we do not ask for a full legal name, home address, or government ID.

9. How long we keep information

We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is active, so Clariva can keep working for you. If you'd like your account and its data deleted, see Section 11 below. We don't currently have a fixed automatic deletion schedule beyond that.

10. Security

We rely on Supabase's infrastructure and access controls — including row-level security rules that restrict who can read or write your data — to help keep your information secure. No system is perfectly secure, though, and we can't guarantee that information you submit to Clariva will never be accessed, disclosed, or altered in a way that violates this policy.

11. Accessing, correcting, or deleting your information

You can view and update most of your profile information directly from your Profile page at any time. Clariva does not currently have a self-service "delete my account" option. If you'd like to access, correct, or delete your account and the information associated with it, email clariva.path@gmail.com and we'll review and process your request as appropriate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Clariva changes. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
