Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 13, 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") set the rules for using Clariva. By creating an account or using Clariva, you agree to these Terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please review these Terms with a parent or legal guardian and use Clariva with their permission. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use Clariva.

1. Clariva's service

Clariva helps students discover, organize, and keep track of information about competitions, olympiads, and other academic and extracurricular opportunities.

2. Clariva is not the opportunity organizer

Unless we say otherwise on a specific page, Clariva is not the organizer, sponsor, admissions authority, judging body, scholarship provider, or competition authority for the opportunities listed on the platform. Opportunities are normally created and run by outside organizations, and Clariva compiles and presents information about them.

3. Verify official information before you act

Deadlines, eligibility rules, fees, prizes, dates, and application requirements can change, and Clariva may not always reflect the most current version. Before applying to, paying for, or relying on any opportunity, please verify the details on the official organizer's website. If something looks wrong, you can use the "Report incorrect info" link on that opportunity's page — we review these reports, but we can't guarantee every listing is complete, accurate, or current at all times.

4. Eligibility indicators

Where your profile has enough information, Clariva may show an "Eligible" or "Check eligibility" label, or a note about whether an opportunity looks available to students in your country. These are automated, informational estimates based on the information in your profile and the information we have about the opportunity — they are not an official eligibility decision by Clariva or by the opportunity's organizer, and you should always confirm eligibility directly with the organizer before applying.

5. Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Clariva account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should use Clariva only with the review and permission of a parent or legal guardian, as described above.

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping your password secure. Let us know right away at clariva.path@gmail.com if you think someone else has accessed your account. Clariva doesn't currently verify age or identity at sign-up — the minimum age above is a condition of using Clariva, not a technical guarantee that it's being met or that parental permission has been obtained.

6. Acceptable use

When using Clariva, you agree not to:

  • attack, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to Clariva or its systems
  • try to bypass access controls or authentication
  • use bots, scripts, or other automated means to interact with Clariva in a way not permitted by these Terms or by our robots.txt
  • misuse your account or another person’s account, or impersonate someone else
  • submit false, abusive, or misleading feedback, reports, or opportunity suggestions

7. Scraping and database extraction

Clariva's compiled database — including our selection, organization, categorization, and presentation of opportunity information — takes real effort to build and maintain. Except for what's necessary for normal use of the site (browsing pages as a human visitor would) and for indexing by legitimate search engines consistent with our robots.txt, you may not scrape, crawl, harvest, systematically download, or otherwise extract data from Clariva in bulk, or use automated tools to copy substantial portions of our database, without our written permission.

This restriction is about unauthorized bulk extraction and republication — it doesn't affect the underlying facts about any given opportunity, which we don't own, and it doesn't stop you from sharing a link to an opportunity page with a friend, teacher, or classmate.

8. Copying and republication

You may not copy, republish, or redistribute Clariva's original content and compiled database — for example, to build a competing service or for other unauthorized commercial use — without our permission, to the extent permitted by law. Normal personal use, like saving a link, screenshotting a page for yourself, or telling someone about an opportunity, is obviously fine.

9. Intellectual property

Clariva's software, design, branding (including the Clariva™ name and logo), original written content, and the particular way we've organized and compiled opportunity information belong to Clariva. We don't claim ownership over third-party trademarks, organizer logos, organizer-authored text, competition names, or the underlying factual information about any opportunity — those remain the property of their respective owners, where applicable.

10. Your submissions

When you send feedback, report an issue with a listing, or suggest an opportunity, you're giving Clariva permission to use, reproduce, and act on what you submit for the purpose of operating, reviewing, and improving Clariva — for example, using your report to correct a listing. We don't claim broader ownership over your submissions than that.

11. Third-party websites

Clariva links to opportunity organizers' official websites and other third-party sites. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, terms, availability, or how they handle your information.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or restrict your access to Clariva if we reasonably believe you've seriously misused the platform, violated these Terms, or created a security risk. Where practical, we'll try to let you know why.

13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Clariva is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We work to keep opportunity information accurate and Clariva running reliably, but we don't guarantee that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any listing is complete or current. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Clariva won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or your reliance on opportunity information listed on it. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any statutory rights you have that can't be waived under the law that applies to you.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Clariva changes. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
